Description
The high mountains of the Khumbu Valley shadow the famous route to the base camp of the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, known as Sagarmatha to the local Nepali people. The summit of Everest sits at 29,029 feet/8,848 meters, so even trekking to the base camp (17,598ft/5,364m) is no small task. While we will be trekking uphill on the way to Everest Base Camp, the trek is considered “Nepali Flat”, meaning there are many ups and downs consistently throughout the 70+mi/113km trek. However, we will be hiking with light day packs, while supporting the local community by hiring porters to carry the majority of our group and personal gear. This trek is a massive accomplishment and an unforgettable adventure!
On this 17-day Wildland Trekking hiking tour, we will travel through remote villages inhabited by the Sherpa people, visit Buddhist monasteries and sleep in rustic Sherpa tea houses. We will have breakfasts, lunches and dinners in tea houses along the way ensuring cultural interaction. Additionally, we will visit the Kathmandu temples of Boudhanath, Swayambhunath and Durbar square. The natural mountain scenery coupled with the rich culture of the Khumbu Valley, makes the Wildland Trekking Everest Base Camp trek one of the best treks in the world.
